The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health has an outstanding opportunity for a Web Developer. The Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) at the University of Washington is dedicated to creating sustainable communities where everyone has access to clean air, clean water, safe food and safe workplaces.
As part of the top-ranked UW School of Public Health, DEOHS educates tomorrow’s health and safety leaders and reaches today’s workforce with sustainable health solutions through our public service, innovative research and cross-disciplinary partnerships. Our program is ranked 5th in the world for environmental and occupational health programs.
DEOHS is seeking a full-time Web Developer to join our department’s Communications team. The Web Developer is primarily responsible for developing and optimizing the functionality and managing the back-end technical requirements of the department’s online presence, including multiple external websites, an internal intranet website and our department blog.
The Web Developer will update and maintain the department’s Drupal-based content management platform for the external-facing websites and the intranet; recommend and implement new functionality, features and tools aligned with our website channel strategy; provide project management for web development projects; and troubleshoot website issues
The Web Developer plays a key role in supporting and executing the department’s communications strategy. The successful candidate is passionate about creating and maintaining web-based content that prioritizes user experience and the accuracy and accessibility of information. This role calls for a creative collaborator and idea-generator who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, upbeat team environment.
The Web Developer reports to the DEOHS Director of Communications and Public Relations and works collaboratively as part of a four-person communications team that defines and shapes DEOHS’s brand and reputation through our expertise in communications strategy, messaging, design and storytelling.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
