Assistant Chief Flight Instructor - Helicopter (Aerospace)

Position Information: DescriptionThe Assistant Chief/Flight Instructor position will provide leadership and oversight to the helicopter flight training courses by working with flight instructors, students, and the various departments throughout UND Flight Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assistant Chief Flight Instructor
Counsel/advise CFIs on TCO content, requirements, and flight records.Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations (FAR Parts 61, 91, and 141).Certify student records for Part 141 graduation.Administer standardization, stage and evaluation checks and perform duties as a helicopter CFI.Coordinate and interview potential Helicopter CFIs.Coordinate with academic departments for integration of training.Provide counsel to students and instructors.Mentor new instructors and students.Assist in conducting standardization and safety seminars.Suggest changes for the improvement of any aspect to UND Flight Operations Assist in the performance of other duties as assigned by the Director of Flight Operations or Chief Flight Instructor.Conduct student review boards.Assume Chief CFI duties and responsibilities in their absence.
Administration and Management
Provide support and assistance to Chief Flight InstructorDevelop, monitor and maintain policies and procedures.Assist in developing and monitoring flight hour budget.Monitor student training to ensure that timelines are being met.Assist in development of contract bids.Identify, develop and coordinate marketing opportunities to promote the helicopter program.Provide helicopter subject matter expertise to the JDOSAS management team.Provide direction and motivation to helicopter staff.
Operations LiaisonConduct liaison with FAA, ATC, and other relevant organizations.Assists coordination between flight operations and academic instructor.Coordinate with all departments within Flight Operations to facilitate helicopter department success.Facilitate coordination between dispatch and maintenance for helicopter maintenance issues.

Air Transportation/Non-Instructional FlightConduct Air Transportation flights.Perform maintenance test flights in a timely manner.Support University special activities, aerospace camps, etc.Pilot for commercial projects and contracts.UND RepresentativePromote UND Aviation programs to the public.Conduct Tours of Flight Operations.Assist in developing promotional content.Help manage social media for the helicopter department.Recruit new students through promotional activities and communications.Attend and network at industry events on behalf of the program.Required Competencies

Minimum Requirements

B.S. degree in Aviation or equivalent flight experienceMinimum FAA certifications:Commercial and instrument rotorcraft certificates.Certified flight instructor and instrument instructor rotorcraft certificates.

Meet the requirements of FAR 141.36 assistant chief instructor:1000 hours PIC,500 hours dual given,50 hours simulated instrument, &1.5 years of instruction experience.Meet the requirements of SFAR 73 to instruct in the Robinson R44.Experience with FARs and Part 141 pilot school operations.Second-class FAA medical certificate and the ability to maintain it.Successful completion of criminal history records check.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with UND training course outlines and computer systems.Experience with UND flight record system.Meet the experience requirements of FSIMS 8900.2C for Designated Pilot Examiners:2000 hours total time,500 hours rotorcraft,100 hours in the past 12 months, & 100 hours instrument.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification$72,500 / year, exempt, benefited, full-time
