Job Description- Directly oversee and manage the aquatics center, certification courses, and other programs such as swim lessons and special events.Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise aquatics center student staff in ways that help our students grow, progress, or increase developmental capabilities.Responsible for the operating, preparation, forecasting and monitoring of income and expense budgets as it relates to program area.
- Process semimonthly payroll in accordance with department and University policy and procedures.Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive environment in all programs and facilitiesEstablish and implement program area-specific risk management practices, policies, and procedures.Oversee aquatic facility scheduling to ensure that all user groups, both internal and external, receive adequate and appropriate use. Serve as the point of contact for groups using the aquatic facilities including contracts, revenue, and risk management.Design and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for the pool and associated support spaces. Ensures facility maintenance issues are addressed in a timely and proper fashion.Work directly with Commercial Aquatics Services to maintain the pool mechanical systems and equipmentResearch, evaluate, and design all Campus Rec risk management and safety plans. Lead a Safety Committee comprised of 2 - 3 Campus Recreation employees to develop semesterly Emergency Procedures Training and monthly audits for all program areasMaintain FA/CPR/AED certifications for the department and ensure that all active employees are current. Maintain the stock of first-aid supply for the department.Schedule regular CPR classes for the department and offer to students outside of Campus Recreation for additional revenue.Coordinate all aquatic equipment purchases and maintenance and chemical purchases and deliveriesCompile semester and annual statistical program data for department reports.Develop annual aquatics program goals and appropriate evaluation and assessment metrics.Regularly prepare activity, attendance and other reportsExpected to cultivate and develop relationships with numerous campus constituents to help advance the mission of the university and division. Serve on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees and work groups as assigned.May include occasional evening and weekend work requirements.Other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience with aquatic staff supervision, and aquatic facility management
- Demonstrated knowledge of aquatics best practices and national trends, preferably in a collegiate environment
- REQUIRED: American Red Cross lifeguard certification
- REQUIRED: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification or the ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment
- REQUIRED: American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification or the ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment
- REQUIRED: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain within first 6 months
- Master’s Degree in sports management, student affairs, higher education administration, or another related field.
- Experience in diversity and inclusion training and education
- Experience in leading a team
- Team-oriented and highly motivated to complete multiple tasks
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Training (LGIT)
- Experience with Fusion software
Full time, benefit eligible
Salary$47,476 - $49,000 commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
ShiftWork schedule will primarily be Monday-Friday; 8am – 5pm. May include some nights and weekend work requirements.
