The Department of University Communications has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Communications to work in Coral Gables, FL.
The Communications Manager will manage the development and execution of internal and external communication projects and initiatives to advance institutional priorities and elevate the University’s brand identity. The manager will identify and create opportunities to expand the University’s impact by elevating the understanding of its education, research, and service missions among a variety of audiences. This position will work closely with University partners to advance a broad range of communications priorities.
Creates, designs, edits, and distributes digital communication materials designed to meet the communication objectives of the University.
Captures, edits, and delivers photo, video, and motion-based assets for multimedia content.
Assists in the development and publishing of multimedia-based products.
Demonstrates expertise in the development and disciplined execution of strategic communication plans using research and audience insight to develop key messages.
Incorporates social and digital media tools in strategic communication plans and special events programming.
Provides recommendations regarding trends in the digital space.
Manages and administers the University’s digital asset management systems.
Oversees the University’s mobile application content management, strategy, and promotion and liaises with University of Miami Information Technology and other teams to ensure the app is maintained.
Analyzes the University’s mobile app usage and trends to make informed decisions regarding development and manages respective app store listings and settings.
Maintains the University’s commercial and film agreements under guidance from the executive director of communications and working closely with the offices of business services and general counsel; assists in film and commercial agreements and execution with external vendors; and works with internal units and schools to coordinate facility usage and supervises on-location shoots.
Serves as a liaison to University Archives.
Builds relationships across the institution and with external vendors to enhance the professional image of and support for internal communications.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in communication or related field.
A minimum of four years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered .
Must be able to execute multiple projects simultaneously, while managing concurrent deadlines.
Experience with DSLR and prosumer camera equipment.
Proficient in Adobe CS, graphic software, and audio editing software.
Ability to work with university colleagues at all levels, often handling sensitive or confidential information.
Ability to work independently, exercise excellent judgment, and deliver high-quality performance and work.
HTML5 proficiency a plus.
