This position provides fiscal assistance to faculty and key project personnel regarding financial management and compliance with federal, state, university, and other applicable sponsor regulations and policies.


This position is responsible for performing all phases of professional accounting services related to the following types of accounts within the College of Public Health (COPH) to include but not limited to Educational and General (E&G), Research, Foundation, Auxiliary, Convenience and Research Initiative Accounts. This position provides fiscal assistance to faculty and key personnel regarding financial management and compliance with federal, state, university and other applicable sponsor regulations and policies. This position is fully remote position but may need to come to the office for training and/or occasional tasks.


Coordinate and perform monthly reconciliation of account ledgers with COPH reconciliation procedures. Research problems and discrepancies and bring resolution to the problem. Ensure accurate processing of budget transfer, expenditure transfers and payroll expenditure transfers. Analyze, prepare, review, and disseminate monthly reports.

Assemble supporting work papers and compose financial statements and fiscal reports. Establish and track accounts for Principal Investigators, Directors and Deans. Oversee overhead, auxiliary and state funded budgets and expenditures. Regularly monitor account balances to prevent over-expenditures. Review and approve documentation to transfer funds. Provide projections and account balances as requested by departmental faculty & staff.

Coordinate purchasing activities. The incumbent will work closely with purchasing staff within the COPH in a team-based atmosphere. The position will ensure that all purchases meet applicable State, USF and COPH policies and guidelines prior to initiation of the purchasing activity. The position reviews or processes requisitions, travel vouchers, travel reimbursements, purchase orders, P-cards, journal transfers, professional service consultant request, payroll transfers, and expenditure transfers. Many of these tasks are performed in Archivum. Maintain back-up documentation for accounts.

The incumbent provides technical assistance and financial management strategies to accountable officers and project staff in compliance with University of South Florida (USF), COPH and sponsor policies and procedures. Establish, review, and maintain budgetary control systems for monitoring operating budgets. Analyze financial information on a complex set of accounts to provide wide range of solutions to potential problems or situations in Archivum. Maintain back-up documentation for accounts.

Performs other duties as assigned.



This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent with three years of work experience in positions with fiscal support duties. College or other relevant post-secondary coursework may substitute for the experience requirement on a year for year basis.


Bachelor's degree is Accounting, Business Administration or related field. Three to five years of accounting and budgeting experience. Knowledge of Excel, Box, Microsoft Teams, FAST, Gems and Finance Mart.
