Job Summary Central Washington University is recruiting an Assistant to the President and Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Planning to join our Institutional Effectiveness team in Ellensburg, Washington. The Role:
Working collaboratively with constituents across the University, the incumbent will provide oversight for the effectiveness of the institution, including the University’s vision, mission, and strategic plan development and reporting and the University’s regional accreditation reporting and continuous improvement process. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for partnering with Information Services in developing strong data systems to provide a foundation for reliable data reporting and a culture of data-informed decision-making. The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of institution research initiatives, including developing predictive and comparative analytics for institutional planning and key performance indicators. All employees must support CWU’s commitment to equity and the development of a culture of belonging.

Job Duties

- Develops and implements a strategic vision for integrated institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement by providing data integrity and analysis, research support related to institutional priorities, and oversight of institutional planning and assessment across academic and administrative program areas
- Works with leaders across the University to develop systematic processes which provide for the collection and analysis of data to support and enhance institutional decision-making
- Leads comprehensive research projects on topics such as student enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation; program effectiveness; and institutional comparative studies
- Collaborates with administrators, faculty and staff committees, and others on projects in support of university priorities
- Partners with Information Services to provide leadership in the development of data systems and data warehouses, as well as methodologies for sharing of data and information; provides oversight of data sources, developing standards and definitions across the University in order to build integrity in data sources and a culture of data-informed decision-making
- Provides oversight and leadership of accreditation and assessment, including establishing policies and following best practices that strengthen quality and promote continuous improvement in support of the mission of the University
- Serves as the official university contact in relation to institutional assessment and effectiveness requirements for all regional, state, federal and external agencies, including the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
- Collaborates with Information Services and Securities in data management and reporting; and facilitates optimum data accessibility and operation to ensure prime utilization of data and information available

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in educational research, statistics, policy analysis, educational measurement and evaluation, quantitative social science, or a related field AND
  • Five years’ experience at a baccalaureate institution in one or more of the following fields: institutional research, strategic planning, student learning assessment, academic planning, data or enrollment management, or in state or federal policy analysis regarding baccalaureate institutions
  • OR Bachelor’s degree and ten years of experience working in a baccalaureate institution or in oversight of baccalaureate institutions in one or more of the following fields: institutional research, strategic planning, student learning assessment, academic planning, data or enrollment management, or state of federal policy pertaining to baccalaureate institutions
  • OR any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates experience meeting the essential functions of the position
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and fostering a culture of belonging

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or other terminal degree
  • Experience responding to state and federal reporting requirements
  • Experience leading an office of institutional effectiveness at a public university
  • Experience in the management and supervision of personnel engaged in the analysis of university data
  • Experience in the development and use of a comprehensive university data management system
  • Experience collaborating with constituents across a university in building data sets and data-informed decision-making
  • Experience as team member preparing an institution of higher education for a major accreditation visit (either regional or national accreditation)
  • Experience advancing access and equity at an institution of higher education and at the state and federal level

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch)

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to meet the physical demands of remaining at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, using repetitive arm, hand, and finger movements. Some stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying, or moving of objects and other movements may be required. Occasional evening or weekend work and travel may be required.
