The Senior Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing the undergraduate recruitment initiatives for Explore Center pre-engineering, pre-health, pre-law, and undecided prospective students. The Explore Center makes up approximately 25% of the incoming first year class and reflects the largest admitted student pool on campus. This position is physically located in the Explore Center and reports to the Director of the Explore Center. The position responsibilities include developing and coordinating Explore Center recruitment marketing initiatives, implementing a data-driven strategic plan for the department, and directly supervising Explore Center recruitment Ambassadors and Interns. This person must be able to understand how cultural context, differences, and institutional/social barriers influence the prospective student experience.
The Senior Assistant Director will represent the Explore Center at all recruitment events and will develop and deliver presentations to various sized audiences, including a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, parents, and/or campus guests. This position will have extensive involvement with UNL’s daily campus visits program and special events, both on-campus and off-campus, and daily interaction with the public in-person, through email, and over the phone. This position will foster relationships and communicate regularly with faculty and staff across the campus regarding coordination of the recruitment of pre-engineering, pre-health, pre-law, and undecided prospective students. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Minimum required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of experience in marketing, recruitment, higher education, sales or related experience. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills, experience public speaking in both small and large forums. Ability to relate to people of all age groups, academic abilities and cultures. Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Office software and excellent written communication skills. Ability to supervise staff, programs, and processes and contribute to decision making around human and/or fiscal resource allocation. Demonstrated experience working both independently and on groups/teams. Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
Preferred qualifications: Experience working in undergraduate recruitment. Experience planning events or programs. Experience implementing /creating/evaluating strategic initiatives. Previous Managerial experience (students or staff).
