DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for clinical coordination and new patient access requests for our Acoustic Neuroma (AN) program within the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. Provides clinical review with the AN Care Team of new patient consults to ensure patient safety and satisfaction along with appropriate record collection. Responsible for performing symptom triage, pre/post hospital and procedural follow up with patients as part of our growing patient-centered program.

The ability to appropriately triage newly and previously diagnosed patients and provide excellent telephonic and in-person care is crucial to success. Help implements protocols and pathways to ensure patients are scheduled safely and efficiently Must have the ability to provide an excellent experience for our patients, providers, and team members in a virtual environment.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge.

The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Active, unencumbered, RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year recent nursing experience.

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year recent triage experience.

  • Ability to perform triage and handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency and speed, accuracy and tact.

  • Proficiency with Windows-based software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to be diplomatic and highly organized. Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • Ambulatory Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery Experience.
  • Epic Experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
