This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all sports. Devise training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervise training sessions, evaluate athletes and maintain athlete records. Meet regularly with sport coaches and athletic training staff to determine athlete needs. Maintain the fitness facilities, and establish guidelines, plans and protocols for the safe and professional operation of the facilities. Hire, supervise and evaluate the Fitness Program staff including student workers.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement strength training and coordinating programs for all NCAA athletic programs in a manner that reflects research driven practices and a long term athletic/fitness development plan
• Maintain the fitness facilities and establish guidelines, plans and protocols for the safe and professional operation of the facilities in accordance with NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards/Guidelines
• Work in conjunction with the Athletic Training staff in the overall prevention of athletic injuries. Consult with the athletic training staff when working with a student-athlete that is engaged in rehabilitation
• Keep up to date on and follow all NCAA recommendations relating to health and safety for Strength and Conditioning training
• Develop systems for the documentation and tracking of athlete attendance and athlete records/data
• Hire, supervise and evaluate the Fitness Program staff including student workers
• Conduct an annual needs assessment for each team in conjunction with the coach and athletic training at the conclusion of each sport season
• Assist as needed with the implementation of University-wide wellness planning
• Upon request, provide an initial personal training consultation to members of the University community
• Oversee and coordinate the preventive maintenance for all strength and exercise equipment
• Complete an annual budgetary proposal for the program that includes routine maintenance, purchase of new equipment and staffing needs
• Assist as needed with operations, events and activities coordinated with the Office of Athletics and Recreation including evenings and weekends
• Support the Athletics and Recreation vision, mission and values and work toward the achievement of identified departmental goals; foster cooperative and supportive working relationships with the staff in the department and contribute to a positive working environment

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Kinesiology or related field
• NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR and AED
• College experience in strength and conditioning

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Kinesiology or related field
• 3-5 years college experience with NCAA teams
