Position Summary

The High Energy Theory group at Michigan State University (MSU) welcomes applications for a Research Assistant Professor position in theoretical particle physics with emphasis on QCD global analysis of parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton. This hire is to enhance the work of CTEQ-TEA (Tung et al) group at MSU. The candidate is expected to help develop the needed software package in addition to leading some immediate research projects relevant to the CTEQ-TEA PDFs. The appointment is for one year starting in the fall of 2022.

The group consists of eight faculty members: Martin Berz, Steve Hsu, Huey-Wen Lin, Andreas v. Manteuffel, Wayne Repko (Emeritus), Carl Schmidt, Dan Stump, and C.-P. Yuan, as well as several postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. Ongoing research encompasses CTEQ-TEA PDFs, perturbative precision calculations, lattice QCD, beyond-the-Standard-Model scenarios, collider phenomenology, formal aspects of Quantum Field Theory, cosmology, and beam physics. The group has close interactions with an active Michigan State HEP experimental group and has a strong participation in CTEQ - a national collaboration of theorists and experimentalists. The CTEQ members at MSU are Joey Huston, Huey-Wen Lin, Reinhard Schwienhorst, Dan Stump and C.-P. Yuan. The Department of Physics and Astronomy is well connected to the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering, which provides excellent opportunities for interactions between Physics, Mathematics and Computational Sciences.

MSU is an affirmative-action, equal-opportunity employer and is committed to achieving excellence through diversity. The University actively encourages applications of women and minorities.

For further information, please contact C.-P. Yuan (yuanch@msu.edu) or Joey Huston (huston@msu.edu).
