About Westchester Community College:
Westchester Community College was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. Westchester Community College is more than just the county's largest educational institution. It is a living, breathing part of Westchester that goes beyond the influence of a typical college and affects the lives of all who enter its doors.
The Support Services Supervisor will create, submit and manage budgets for both the Campus Services and Receiving Departments. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the outsourced janitorial contract, including the review of monthly invoicing, daily contact with Contract Site Area Supervisor and college personnel to ensure the highest degree of cleaning is being performed. The Support Services Supervisor will manage employee assignments and costs for special events held on campus. They will also supervise the mailroom, copy center and receiving department personnel; coordinate recycling and shredding programs; manage time and leave reporting for the Physical Plant employees including submission of overtime; manage the outsourced MFP contract for a fleet of copiers on campus and within satellite locations. The incumbent will also negotiate contracts for mail equipment and package tracking system. Submission of invoice payment, job recruitment justification and action processing through Peoplesoft are among additional responsibilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:*This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam when offered.* A minimum of a high school or equivalency diploma and eight years of *staff support experience, two years of which must have been at a supervisory level in which the primary function of the position was warehousing or materials management of general supplies, medical/surgical supplies, or food supplies, required. Proficiency with computer operations (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, Teams and calendar, time clock operation, etc.). The successful candidate must also possess the ability to develop and maintain working relationships and effectively communicate in resolving issues. (*Note: Staff support experience is defined as providing support or back-up functions to higher level administrators in areas such as: office management; participation in budget preparation and monitoring; payroll and personnel type functions; involvement in the development and/or review or department-wide practices and procedures; evaluating departmental operations; participation in planning; financial recordkeeping, accounting, or management activities; purchasing; public relations, community relations, public information activities; and other similar functions. "Line" functions involved in the delivery of services or in the day to day operations of a department would not be qualifying experience.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license is strongly preferred.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $67,417 plus excellent benefits.
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
