DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. The DFA HR team provides local HR support across DFA within the Support Services department, which works to create greater efficiency and potential cost savings to the division while implementing process improvements and consolidation of resources across the functional areas of Human Resources, Emergency Management, and Business Services. Uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues, including strategies, consultation and transactions related to recruitment and compensation, leave administration, performance management systems, changes in position, pay, and classifications, as well as employee engagement and effective employee onboarding and offboarding. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors including proper interpretation and application of UC, UCI and departmental policies and practices, in additional to such activities as equity and job offer analyses, leave use analysis, and personnel action trend analyses (attrition, pay actions/distribution, absence management, etc.). Also provides general HR support and counsel for leaders and employees across the division. Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional areas and understands how work may affect other areas. Thorough knowledge of human resources functions, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations and labor laws, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and other related business software programs and systems, such as applicant tracking systems and/or leave administration systems. UCPath preferred. Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and ability to adapt to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult, highly sensitive or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to adjust to changing priorities and tight deadlines Thorough knowledge of recruitment strategies and best practices and/or leave administration. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to develop relationships and interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across campus at various levels.
