Job Overview

The primary function of this position is performance of professional accounting work. Apply general knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of the accounting profession classifying, examining, and analyzing of financial transactions. Prepare journal entries and routine financial reports. Provide consultative services to campus administrators and staff in resolving accounting problems and/or development of new policies and procedures that are in compliance with California State University San Marcos (CSUSM), California State University (CSU) and Chancellor’s Office (CO) policies and procedures.

Position Summary

Accountant I

This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,000 - $4,700 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,775 - $7,073 per month
