Job Description:


Under the direction of Custodial Supervisor, maintain assigned buildings, classrooms, restrooms, offices and
related facilities in a clean and orderly manner; perform a variety of diverse duties in cleaning and maintaining

Essential Duties Summary:

Sweep, scrub, mop, seal and wax floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other
work areas; wash windows, chalkboards and walls; scrub and refinish floors. (E)

Dust and polish furniture and woodwork; clean and polish desks. (E)

Empty and clean waste receptacles and pencil sharpeners; pick up paper; pick up trash containers and empty
into large bins. (E)

Clean restrooms including floors, walls, fixtures, appliances and mirrors; restock supplies; polish metal
fixtures. (E)

Move furniture and equipment; set up cafeteria, auditorium, gymnasium, meeting rooms and classrooms for
special events and meetings. (E)

Wash walk and eating areas; clean drinking fountains; make emergency clean-ups in classrooms as assigned.

Turn lights on and off; unlock and lock doors and gates.

Participate as part of a cleaning crew, as directed, for major cleaning assignments.
Perform related duties as assigned.


Basic requirements for the safe maintenance of college facilities.

Proper methods, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial work.

Appropriate safety precautions and procedures.


Use cleaning materials, equipment and methods according to predetermined standards.

Maintain tools and equipment assigned in clean working order and provide proper security.

Perform minor, nontechnical repairs.

Observe and report need for maintenance and repair.

Understand and follow oral and written directions.

Work cooperatively with others.

Meet schedules and time lines.

Required Qualifications:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

Valid California driver’s license.

Physical Demands:

Indoor and outdoor environment.
Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Subject to evening or variable hours.

Lifting heavy objects.
Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Bending at the waist.
Climbing ladders.
Seeing to assure proper and complete cleaning.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate cleaning equipment.

Cleaning chemicals and related fumes.


$18.49 per hour

WORKING CONDITIONS: Categorically funded positions are contingent upon funding. In accordance to Board Policy, smoking is restricted in many areas of the Yuba Community College District. Woodland Community College is a tobacco free campus.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position is a temporary position with funding through June 30, 2020. Temporary employees are hired on an on call as needed basis and will not exceed 1000 hours or 175 days each fiscal year. Employees are provided 24 hours of sick leave to be available 90 days after their initial hire date. Fringe benefits are not provided as part of this employment.


The Yuba Community College District spans eight counties and nearly 4,200 square miles in beautiful, rural, northern California. Woodland Community College (WCC), accredited in 2008 as the second community college in the Yuba Community College District and the 110th in the State of California, has provided educational opportunities for students in Yolo and Colusa Counties since 1975. WCC is the only Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in the Sacramento region, with 44% of its student population being of Latino descent. In addition to transfer programs, WCC offers Distributive Education (DE), Basic Skills courses, Career Technical Education (CTE) and other life-long learning opportunities. Students have access to an array of support services, financial aid, dedicated staff and a Child Development Center (CDC).

The Yuba College campus is located in Marysville, California. Yuba College has been providing quality education to the residents of the Yuba-Sutter area for over 84 years. The 160 acre Yuba College Marysville campus first opened its doors in 1962 and offers classes in over 90 programs that prepare students for a certificate, associate’s degree, or transfer to a four-year university. Yuba College also has an educational center, the Clear Lake Campus, and an outreach operation on Beale Air Force Base and in Sutter County.
