Base rate of $95,000 per year

Under general direction of the JH Lead Nurse and the clinical direction of the JH Physician, provides basic medical services by utilizing professional medical skills to meet a variety of health care needs, with ambulatory care as primary focus. Must be able to evaluate and treat general medical and health needs of youth. Monitors CQI programs as they relate to patient care.

Responsibilities

Administrative Duties - 50
'Adheres to all security regulations and reports any security concerns to the GCHC-JH Lead Nurse.
'Maintains a good working relationship with and responds appropriately to correctional and health care staff, contract providers, and with outside agencies conducting services within the facility.
'Utilizes established departmental policies and procedures in making decisions; uses sound independent judgment in meeting responsibilities and performing duties.
'Adheres to HIPAA Regulations and maintains all patient confidentiality as required by law and GCHC Policy.
'Works as scheduled and adheres to GCHC-JH policies for leave, timekeeping and call-ins.
'Attends all required meetings and training.
'Maintains a professional attitude and dress at all times in accordance with the Department of Correctional Healthcare and DJJ dress code policy.
'Does not fraternize with youths beyond professional contact.

Clinical Duties - 50%
Develops comprehensive plans of care. Accurately analyzes and evaluates findings from health histories, laboratory studies and physical examinations. Examines clients to obtain information about their physical condition. Instructs and counsels clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal. Makes tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients. Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.

Required Qualifications

Required Experience
A. Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia.
B. 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting. Prefer 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.
B. Good organizational and decision making skills; good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; must relate well to patients, security staff, visitors and co-workers.
C. Functions within the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act (Nurse Practitioners) and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules (Physician Assistants).
D. Must have current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification, obtained through American Heart or Red Cross Program.
E. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Normal bending, reaching, stooping. Standing and sitting for long periods of time. Must be able to move quickly in cases of emergency. (4 minutes) Normal levels of hearing and seeing, if necessary, with corrective appliances. Must be able to perform BCLS.
F. Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
