Direct and coordinate all activities relating to the Women’s Beach Volleyball Program. Opportunity to assist with indoor volleyball program. This is a part-time position.

Essential Functions
  • Plan and organize team and individual training and practice sessions, within NAIA regulations, with respect and recognition of high-level academic demands of student-athletes.
  • Recruit top student-athletes to compete at Northwest within context of applicable NAIA regulations and University admission expectations.
  • Lead and develop student-athletes, including overall team management in areas such as academic, disciplinary, and personal matters when appropriate.
  • Develop and implement of strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at highest levels for individual and team success.
  • Participate in overall Department of Athletics education and activities, such as regular coach’s meetings and compliance education sessions.
  • Participate in alumni relations, fundraising activities, and other program communication and relation-management as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and plan, prepare lesson plans for all practice sessions, schedule all games including scrimmages, and plan, prepare, and supervise all travel for your sports program.
  • Recruit, retain, and graduate student athletes that fit the culture of Northwest University.
  • Hire and supervise assistant coaching staff, abide by all Northwest University guidelines, abide by all Cascade Conference and NAIA guidelines, and any other work assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Help secure sand courts for practice.
  • Work with head coach of indoor volleyball program.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in an athletically oriented field or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of one or two years of experience in coaching intercollegiate athletics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
  • Possess current, recognized certification in First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne pathogens training, or commit to becoming so certified before practices begin.
  • Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination
  • Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues
  • Masters or doctoral degree in athletically oriented field or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in coaching intercollegiate athletics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven quality organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proven interpersonal, written, and verbal presentation skills.
Working Environment
  • Some weekend/evening work required.
  • Travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
  • Position works with strictly confidential information.
  • Requires work in outdoor weather conditions, including wet, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
Physical Demands

The functions are usually performed while standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing and speaking are also required.
