GHC is looking for a talented, dedicated, equity-minded, full-time tenure-track faculty member to teach and lead the Building Trades Technology program located at Stafford Creek Correction Center (SCCC) campus of Grays Harbor College. Faculty in industrial technology programs are responsible for teaching industry standards and practices, establishing educational and professional pathways for students, collaborating to shape and develop the program, and promoting career and technical programs to local school districts, community organizations, and industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about the latest standards and practices in building trades technology (drywall, roofing, and siding) and related industry and can revise the curriculum accordingly. Additional faculty responsibilities include instructional shop maintenance and development, equipment maintenance, supply management, academic student advising, outcomes assessment, committee work, community outreach, accreditation requirements, and other duties as assigned. The instructor will also be required to attend a 6-week Correctional CORE Worker Training, sponsored by the Department of Corrections. The position will begin in July 2022.
The Department of Corrections contracts with Grays Harbor College to provide educational services for offenders. This position is located at Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC). Although safeguards are implemented to protect staff, this work will be performed in a corrections facility where the potential for violence exists. Applicants for this position must be able to pass an N.C.I.C. background check and be cleared to work in a prison. Continual access to the facility is a critical element of employment.
The placement on the salary schedule for 215 Day Contract will be determined by education and experience at the time of hire. The 215 Day Salary Schedule can be viewed at https://www.ghc.edu/hr/labor-relations. The benefits package includes a medical, dental, and vision plan, and employee/employer participation in an excellent retirement plan. Faculty positions at Grays Harbor College have been designated as bargaining unit positions represented by the Grays Harbor College Federation of Teachers, Local 4984.
