FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Population Health and Social Medicine. Population Health is a new department at FAU and we are looking at candidates who will leverage our institutional expertise in data analytics, the diverse population of our community, and the resources of our community based medical school to bring forward scholarship and innovations. We are searching for a creative, visionary leader for the Department who will bring energy and passion to these efforts in a team-based multi-disciplinary approach and someone who has an established track record in showing how behaviors and care outside the hospital and clinic can make meaningful differences in morbidity and mortality. Reporting to the Dean, the Chair will set the standards of intellectual engagement and accomplishment for the department. The Chair will provide strategic leadership and vision to achieve excellence in all aspects of the academic mission. The Chair will work to assure faculty excellence through recruitment, faculty development, and evaluation of merit for promotion and tenure. Additionally, as the primary executive officer of the department, the Chair will work closely with the CFO on budget planning.
We seek candidates who are committed to creating an accessible, supportive environment and educational experience that recognizes diversity and cultural competence as integral components of academic excellence. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply and to identify their strengths in this area.
