Job Summary

Under general direction, this position provides program and operational leadership and oversight for the Student Bridges Program. Primary focus areas for this position include designing the course syllabus, planning and teaching two service learning seminars; providing leadership for outcomes-based programs and services; supporting training and supervision of student staff; serving as primary liaison to Student Bridges Faculty Advisor, community partners/agencies and campus partners; supporting strategic goals for student success and the student experience; and, ensuring Student Bridges resources are allocated to their best and most effective use. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Advocacy, Inclusion and Support Programs (AISP) and is relied upon as a key leader in the AISP cluster.

Essential Functions

Provide direction and leadership for outcomes-based programs and services supporting student success and the student experience; includes defining and operationalizing department priorities and corresponding allocations of financial, staff and space resources to ensure successful completion of goals.Design course syllabus, plan and teach two service learning seminars. Evaluate and document class sessions, student experience and learning in the classroom. Ensure student’s community service learning placements. Attend meetings with community partner sites.Build and sustain a positive and effective staff able individually and collectively to consistently meet or exceed programmatic goals and objectives. Establish and sustain a culture of data-informed and consensus-led decision making.Ensure Student Bridges staff members and volunteers are properly trained and supervised; and, that they are provided appropriate evaluations of job performance.Implement assessment efforts that measure the impacts and effectiveness of this program. Use assessment results to inform future program emphases.Prepare reports summarizing the scope and impact of Student Bridges programs and services. Implement and utilize ongoing assessment strategies to evaluate and inform Student Bridges programs and services. Provide reports and necessary programmatic information to Student Government Association (SGA) to support annual funding request.Required to work some nights and some weekends.

  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Social Justice, Sociology or related field plus three (3) years of related work experience with demonstrated progression of greater responsibility in providing academic, developmental and related programs and services for multicultural and otherwise diverse student populations in a university setting.
  • Contemporary knowledge of theory and best practices related to promoting, establishing and sustaining positive, inclusive communities.
  • Proven ability to design, plan, teach and evaluate community service learning course.
  • Highly cultivated cultural competency, coupled with demonstrated ability to effectively relate to and support diverse, underrepresented and/or underserved populations.
  • Contemporary knowledge and understanding of issues and corresponding effective intervention strategies impacting underrepresented and underserved college student populations.
  • Superior intercultural communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, organize and manage concurrent priorities and projects; and using assessment strategies to evaluate program and services effectiveness.
  • Ability to collaborate with community partners and agencies.

    Doctoral/terminal degree in Higher Education, Administration, Social Justice, Sociology or related field with one (1) year of related work experience with demonstrated progression of greater responsibility in providing academic, developmental and related programs and services for multicultural and otherwise diverse student populations in a university setting.

    Physical Demands/Working Conditions

    Driver’s license required for travel to work-related sites.

    Additional Details

  • Financial responsibilities are for amounts between $101-250K in revenue operations:
  • Ensure accuracy of recorded data through the use of analytical reports and reconciliations.
  • Utilize financial databases and systems to manipulate and analyze financial data for internal and external reporting and decision making.
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term funding options for strategic plans and ongoing operations.
  • Budget responsibilities are for amounts between $101-250K in revenue operations:
  • Develop budget to include forecasting; monitor and report variances/problems and recommend solutions.
  • Has signature authority to implement solutions and release funds. Accepts an institutional responsibility for the university funds assigned.
  • Work Schedule

    Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
