About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Associate Director of Creative Services and Web Development, the Video Production Manager will work with the Engagement Marketing team and partners across Advancement to develop highly engaging content for campaigns targeting our alumni, donor, parent and student audiences throughout the year. This will include event recap and promo videos, honoree features, student, faculty, donor and alumni interviews and more. The person in this role will lead video production for DU Advancement and will be an integral part in campaigns of all sizes reaching our entire University of Denver community.

The ideal candidate in this position will be passionate about working within a creative team and have strong experience in all stages of production. This role will be responsible for leading video projects from start to finish including concepting, storyboarding, on-site production activities and all post-production. Although video production is the primary focus of this role, photography and development of animated graphics will also be needed.

Essential Functions

Asset Development

  • Work independently and with the Engagement Marketing team in planning and finalizing video and photo assignments; managing project details and timelines, and ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Brainstorm story ideas and serve as lead videographer in all stages of production once deliverables are finalized.
  • Work with Associate Director of Creative Services and Web Development to incorporate and execute feedback, edits, creative direction and to ensure university brand standards are being followed for all assets.
  • Work with the Digital Communications team within the Engagement Marketing team to develop video content for all social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Production

  • Transport, set up, and operate various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props and microphones for location and studio production.
  • Conduct interviews during shooting when necessary or assigning appropriate team member or stakeholder to conduct interviews based on project during pre-production.
  • Attend University of Denver events as needed to capture event footage, interviews and to livestream when appropriate.
  • Accomplish the bulk of the technical tasks related to pre-production, production, and post-production, including scheduling, project management, file distribution, technical troubleshooting, etc.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Director of Engagement Marketing to ensure projects are being prioritized appropriately based on overall Advancement goals.
  • Work with the full team in finalizing campaign strategy and storyboarding based on project needs and objectives.
  • Work with the Universitys central marketing team to stay up-to-date on their video projects and opportunities to collaborate. Ensure assets are being shared with this team to be promoted through main DU channels.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Creative thinker with experience in both videography and photography
  • Skills in post-production with the ability to finalize and cut shots based on project needs
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, written) and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to take initiative, keep a positive attitude and maintain a professional demeanor
  • Adept at problem-solving, critical thinking, and using judgment in situations that require sensitivity and tact
  • Ability to work in other areas of creative production as needed
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
  • Ability to storyboard and prepare scripts during pre-production
  • Ability to adapt to new platforms when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 2 years of video production experience, including all stages
  • 2 years of photography experience
  • Project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Animation experience
  • Experience in higher education or similarly complex non-profit organization

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., some nights and weekends, as required

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 8.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
