Job Summary
The College of Education at Savannah State University seeks applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Science Education, starting August 2021. Responsibilities include teaching courses in Biology Education for majors and in Science Education including middle/secondary science teaching methods, inquiry and investigation-based life science for science education majors, and foundation/professional education courses. Responsibilities also include advising Biology teaching majors and Science Education Middle Grades Education students seeking educational certification, supervising students in educational field experiences, develop an active research program in Biology Education or Science Education that engages undergraduate students, and serving on various institutional governing committees addressing policies and procedures affecting degree programs in The College of Education.

Required Qualifications
The Assistant Professor of Science Education MUST have passed a state teacher licensing examination and obtained full certification as a teacher. Applicants for this position must also have:
    An earned doctorate in science discipline, science education, biology education, chemistry education, or physics education. Current, viable teacher certification in Middle Grades (4-8) - Science and Science (6-12). Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching public middle grades and or high school science. Working Knowledge of the Georgia Performance Standards for middle school and high school science, the National Science Education Frameworks, or performance based secondary science curriculum. Evidence of a research agenda in science or science education. Evidence of participation in curriculum development or professional activity at the state, regional, or national area in science or science education.
