Job Title: Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement (Part-time)

Summary of Position: This position will work with the Director of Student Involvement and the Coordinator of Co-Curricular Experience. This role will assist in various different areas within Student Involvement including Commuter Students, management of The Hub, opportunities to be involved with multiple student groups, and assisting with media communications. Additionally, the position may have the option of continuing with limited hours through the summer to continue assistance with the coordination of Student Involvement initiatives and programs.

NOTE: This position is a part-time role of 15-20 hours/week with anticipated dates of employment from August 1 - May 31 (possible continued summer opportunity as well).


Duties and Responsibilities

Commuter Students

  • Plan and implement two Commuter Student programs to build community among the commuter students and their sense of belonging on campus
  • Communication of campus events and reminders of important information. This should be of significant importance at the start of each semester and can encompass items such as meal plans, parking passes, campus wide events, and an invitation to utilize the commuter student lounge and its resources

Student Involvement

  • Opportunities for intentional involvement and leadership will be available with various student groups. These groups will include but art not limited to Student Government Association (SGA), Student Activities Council (SAC), and a long-standing comedy show tradition (Friday Night Live - FNL).
  • Help groups in achieving goals, communicating ideas, and encourage them to think bigger and more creatively

Operations of The Hub

  • This individual will work closely with the professional staff on the administrative responsibilities such as organization of products, promoting opportunities, managing the open hours of The Hub Pantry, etc.
  • This position is responsible to train, set up, tear down, and troubleshoot special events and meetings. Must be knowledgeable in overall management of The Hub.

Student Involvement Team Support

  • This position is part of the Student Involvement Team, and at times there may be other duties assigned to provide support for staff and holistic development for students.

Media Communication

  • Assist and guide media content to help Student Involvement groups communicate their mission and vision for the year. Assist in event promotion for various student groups.

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Enrollment in Master's program at a regionally accredited institution

Experience

  • Experience in student events and programs during undergraduate education preferred
