Position Details:

Summary of Duties:

In support of Administrative Services Information Systems (ASIS) and its customers, perform standard consulting, analyzing, programming, testing, maintenance, installation and/or technical support of application system solutions to meet business and customer service needs.

With minimal supervision, work independently or in team settings to complete tasks or assignments on web and/or computer software/hardware applications, support products, projects, or databases by following established methodologies and predetermined protocols and procedures. Analysis of potential application changes and their impact on processes, policies, and procedures within the scope of the project. Develop the most suitable software solutions for problems using agreed-upon technologies, models/strategies and platforms, best practice and proficiency for issues of various difficulty in a fast-paced business setting.

Responsible for working with multiple customers/projects within ASIS for resolution.

Perform standard tasks such as:
-Consulting with customers to identify and analyze technology needs and problems
-Analyzing problems for parts of applications and solving problems with some assistance
-Designing, developing, deploying, maintaining, improving and supporting primarily C# .NET web- based software applications in compliance with specifications and standards
-Conducting unit, system or usability testing
-Writing specifications and developing reports
-Convert conception or goals into actionable plans
-Developing and conducting application, software and/or system operation training for users
-Responding to and resolving incident/issue reports from users
-Serving as part of a problem solving team to address more complex issues
-Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables. Strong customer service, advocacy and education skills are a must.
-Applies new technologies (as applicable), as well as learns to operate and maintain technology.
-Assists in knowledge transition in a team-lead position for entry level hired.

Required Qualifications:

  • Position require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • General understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and/or XML.

  • General understanding of planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing software applications.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing web-based applications.

  • Experience working with customers on the development, implementation and support of custom applications.

  • Technical skill in creating and manipulating websites.

  • Experience in design, development, implementation, and maintenance of e-commerce web-based applications.

  • Experience with .NET framework and MVC.

  • Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as jQuery, React and Angular.

  • Experience with CSS pre-processors such as LESS or SASS.

  • General understanding of UX design principles.

  • Experience with responsive design and frameworks such as Foundation or Bootstrap.

  • Experience using analytic and heat-mapping tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and testing to improve features and functionality.)

  • Experience with multiple database platforms, including SQL Server, Sybase, and/or Oracle.

  • Experience working with applications that utilize relational databases.

  • Experience in design, development, creation and maintenance of relational database applications using MS SQL/t-SQL or similar.

  • Experience writing queries and determining the best way to present information.

  • Demonstrated experience managing day-today tasks under general supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with other team members.

  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem solving working only under general supervision.

  • Knowledge of system development life cycle and project management principles.

  • Experience in administration, management and support of content management system.

  • Experience with version control practices in team development.

  • Experience working with and around sensitive information (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA, CJIS, etc.)

  • Demonstrated professional demeanor and aptitude for customer service.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with faculty, staff, and students.

  • Self-starter and willingness to take full ownership and drive projects

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
