American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on an 88+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. Job Description:


  • Oversee student employment system including on-campus and off-campus work study, internships, and graduate assistantships.

  • Create and evaluate departmental goals and objectives and manage departmental budget.

  • Recruit, select, hire, train, supervise and evaluate career development professional and office staff.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and regional and national organizations including scheduling of on campus interviews and researching information on employment trends, career opportunities, and salaries.

  • Develop workshops for students and alumni on topics such as resume writing, graduate school, interviewing, and job search as well as coordinating career events, fairs, and panels.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with alumni affairs, academic deans, faculty, and staff.

  • Provide individual and group counseling in career related areas.

  • Collect program and employment data on AIC career services and graduate placement data to be used in the Career Development annual report.

  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by their supervisor. This may include participation in committee work or required trainings.



Requirements:


  • Required Degree(s): Master's Degree

  • Required Field of Expertise: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel Administration, Student Affairs Administration. Professional experience in Student Affairs at a college or university. Career Advising or Human Resources experience.

  • Preferred Training/Cert: Experience using TimeSheetX and/or JobX preferred.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Experience in a career development/coaching environment preferred.
  • This position relies on many different software platforms to be effective. Strong ability to learn, utilize, and improve software applications and databases is important. Prior experience using TimesheetX and JobX student employment systems preferred as well as proficiency with using Excel to interpret and analyze data.

  • Must be self-directed; possess excellent interpersonal communication, organization, and administrative skills; and be a team player.

  • Experience working with diverse populations as well as sensitive and confidential information.

  • Ability to work infrequent and pre-scheduled nights and weekends and function in an environment that at times can be demanding.

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Experience administering assessment tools such as the MBTI, StrengthsFinder, etc. preferred.

Work Schedule


This is a full-time, exempt level, benefit-eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, flexible to the needs of the department. Occasional night and weekend work may be required.
