Position Purpose:Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean of Student Life, the Assistant Dean for Student Life serves as a core member of the Student Life leadership team and has broad programming, administrative, and advising responsibilities that support the mission of the Student Life.The Assistant Dean for Student Life provides oversight to several programs, initiatives, and services provided by Student Life. This includes Freedom of Expression and Dissent, advising political organizations and voting initiatives, Council on Student Organization recognition processes, and professional development and assessment for Student Life. This position is also responsible for supervising staff and student employees, managing budgets, advising student groups and programs, and coordinating and facilitating student leadership training.
Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:- 7 years of professional experience in student affairs administration or equivalent experiences in other appropriate student program administration or closely related field.
- Awareness of developmental issues of college-age students.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to proficiently manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrated experience working both independently and collaboratively, and ability to address challenges collaboratively and creatively.
- Accomplished track record of setting and achieving professional and departmental goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with all campus constituencies, including institutional leaders, faculty, staff, students, parents, family members and alumni/ae.
- Demonstrated cultural competence, and proven ability to meet the needs of a diverse undergraduate population and to promote pluralism and intercultural understanding.
- Demonstrated skills in financial and budget management, ability to interpret and prepare departmental budgets and other financial reports.
- Previous supervision and strategic planning experience strongly recommended.
