Position Description: JEDI Fellowship


The JEDI Fellowship is a student JEDI leadership cohort program through the JEDI Office at the IHP. The Fellowship was established as a part of the IHP’s anti-oppression initiatives in 2020. Each JEDI Fellow is assigned to a pre-professional department and works closely with the JEDI Office, Department members and other Fellows to help advance the IHP anti-oppression mission. We are currently hiring for support in these departments: OT, Genetic Counseling, PA, and PT. Students from all programs are encouraged to apply for these positions. Both the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and School of Nursing Dean’s Offices will also be hiring for JEDI Fellows (Separate Hiring Process).


Requirements:
● Be a current MGH Institute of Health Professions student.
● Strong interest in developing and facilitating JEDI programming.
● Commitment to Anti-Oppression, Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Advocacy.
● Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others
● Interest in deepening their own leadership and learning with respect to JEDI
initiatives.


Time Commitment:
● Weekly JEDI team meetings with JEDI fellows. (Community Building sessions,
leadership development sessions)
● Weekly meetings with assigned JEDI Office Supervisor.
● Attend JEDI Office Programming (varies)
● Monthly Anti-Oppression Task Force Meeting
● Meetings with Academic Program Supervisor as needed (varies)
● JEDI Office Hours (varies)

Depending on, the JEDI Fellow interests, and the needs of academic programs and the JEDI Office, JEDI Fellow responsibilities may include:
● Collaborating with JEDI staff and academic program staff on new ideas, directions,
and programming on equity, diversity, and inclusion events.
● Providing support and resources to students and/or student organizations to lead and
facilitate programming or initiatives.
● Help manage and organize new and existing programming materials; create an online
database of shared online resources and document programming for institutional
knowledge.
● Providing research assistance.
● Participating in the coordination and promotion of JEDI programming on campus.
● Promoting inter-community and intra-community dialogues and engagement.
● Draft, design, and distribute flyers, social media, and other marketing materials for
events hosted by JEDI. And managing Social Media accounts.
● Serve as a connector between the JEDI office and students interested in JEDI
initiatives at the IHP.
● Other administrative projects

Students interested in the following programs and projects are encouraged to apply:
● Mentorship program for undergraduate students interested in the health professions
● Social Justice Research Conference
● Leading dialogue spaces
● Leading affinity spaces
● Workshops for departments (facilitating and/or co-developing/creating)
● Assessments, surveys, and data analysis
● Facilitating PPP

Examples of ongoing projects JEDI Fellows are working on:
● Curating and creating a set of JEDI resources through Padlet/LibGuides
● JEDI Core Competencies
● Program specific JEDI curricular work
● Microaggression Workshops
● Dialogue Spaces
● Social Media Management
● Fellows Program Vision Planning
● Community Building Spaces
● Facilitating Panels
