POSITION SUMMARY

Doctoral Adjunct Dissertation Methodologists assist in Southeastern University's academic mission by serving on PhD dissertation committees as methodologist. Methodologists will help prepare doctoral students to conduct qualitative or quantitative dissertation research that is methodologically sound. Adjunct assignments are offered on an irregular basis and are subject to change in response to the University's academic needs.

Adjunct Doctoral Dissertation Methodologist must meet all expectations of the doctoral dissertation committee:

Work under the direction of the dissertation chair to mentor and encourage the doctoral student as he or she conducts all phases of the dissertation. 

Ensure the quality of the project at each phase of the process. 

Ensure that professional standards of conduct are followed by students throughout the dissertation process. 

Participate in proposal and project defense meetings under the direction of the dissertation chair.

Submit feedback to the dissertation chair in a timely manner. 

The methodologist must complete the IRB training through NIH or CITI. The methodologist is specifically responsible for advising the doctoral candidate and the dissertation chair on the research study's design, methods, and analyses as well as interpretations of the results of the study. The methodologist must review and approve the research study’s design, methods, and analyses.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a PhD in organizational leadership or related social-scientific field. 

Degree must be from an institution that is accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. 

Ability to integrate faith and learning.

Sufficient availability for timely and substantive student interaction.

Excellent oral and written language skills.

Outstanding Christian character.

Must demonstrate expertise in either qualitative or quantitative research methods in the social sciences, or equivalent, to include published research in peer reviewed journals, university teaching experience, and conference presentations.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with an established record of research evidenced by professional and scholarly contributions to the body of knowledge on organizational leadership or similar social-scientific contexts. 

Preference will be given to candidates with dissertation committee experience and/or experience teaching research methods.
