The Department, housed within the College of Science and Mathematics, is composed of 19 full-time faculty members with expertise across a broad spectrum of mathematical disciplines. We have a strong commitment to providing research opportunities to our students in addition to excellent instruction. Our M.S. in Biological and Computational Mathematics, while young, is growing and ambitious. We work closely with the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences in support of their undergraduate and graduate programs, including in their developing program in biomedical systems engineering. Furthermore, we are developing research ties with the Medical College of Georgia as we build a distinctive identity of applying mathematics to problems of human and public health.
Minimum Requirements Ph.D. in mathematics or strongly related area. Preferred Qualifications Post-doctoral and teaching experience, the start of a publication record. Expertise in Biomathematics, in particular modeling in areas relevant to human health such as autoimmune diseases, the effect of inflammation on different organs or organ systems, and particular pathologies, such as vision loss.
