Role Title: State Authorization & Accreditation Support Manager

Position Summary:

The State Authorization & Accreditation Support Manager will take steps necessary to obtain and maintain authorization to operate in states where Saybrook University offers programs and instruction to students. The role encompasses organizing and tracking state authorization applications and renewals and staying abreast of changes to state regulations and laws in each state to ensure institutional compliance for all programs being offered. Will be responsible for checking state regulations, updating internal tracking, and ensuring proper disclosures are made by various functions within the Saybrook University. Additionally, the position will collaborate with the accreditation and compliance related at TCS Education Systems, outside regulatory bodies for accreditation, and various internal stakeholders. This role reports to the Accreditation Liaison Officer.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

Prepares and facilitates the creation or renewal of state authorization application submissions by the required deadlines, working directly with faculty, program coordinators, department chairs, and other campus stakeholders. Updates and monitors state authorization SharePoint site; develops and maintains applications and annual/bi-annual renewals, database storage, reporting, and other compliance requirements for regular campus distribution and auditing needs. Confirms each individual state statutes and rules to determine university/program eligibility to enroll students in coursework and Supervised On-Ground Field Experiences, if applicable. Monitors state and federal laws, updating licensure or other regulations and developing communication strategies to ensure campus compliance; maintains state authorization webpage(s). Collaborates with campus leadership to ensure all requirements for new and existing programs with professional certification or licensure align with state higher education boards, regional accreditation, and federal compliance. Coordinates response to state education regulatory bodies regarding Saybrook University and its programs in a timely and professional manner. Works collaboratively with Director of Clinical Training regarding each individual state statutes and rules to determine eligibility for college graduates to gain initial licensure in the state. Processes documentation for accrediting agencies to get approval for new and current programs offered by Saybrook University. Works hand in hand with TCS Office of General Counsel when legal expertise is needed to interpret state regulations. Provides requested reports to College functions regarding state authorization issues. Supports program reviews for assessment and accreditation through data retrieval and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two years prior training or work experience in, state authorization, legal compliance, quality systems, or closely related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize work, create timelines, organize workflow, and work collaboratively to complete projects.

  • Ability to read and understand state regulations, prepare well-researched and written reports/applications, strong interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders with differing goals and priorities; experience building working relationships in various areas, including higher education or corporate settings.

Experience using the Cooley State Authorization Service System, Diligent Boards System, or Watermark Taskstream’s Accountability Management System (AMS) a plus.
