Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellow (Adjunct) in Applied Psychophysiology at Saybrook University.

Saybrook University is seeking a person who graduated with a Ph.D. in Applied Psychophysiology within the last two years to join Saybrook University as a post-doctoral teaching fellow.

Under the direction of the Chair, Department of Psychophysiology, the post-doctoral teaching fellow is responsible for developing and teaching courses as well as performing other research and administrative tasks within the department of psychophysiology.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The Post-Doctoral Fellowship is a half time, one-year position. Teaching Fellows are paid at the same rate as adjunct instructors at Saybrook University plus have the opportunity to take one free course per semester. Post-Doctoral Fellows have three years to take their free courses as it is unlikely that courses of interest will be available the same semester the fellows are teaching.
  • The Fellow is assigned to the Department of Psychophysiology at Saybrook University to perform the following and other duties as assigned under the supervision of the Department Chair.
  • The Fellow is expected to teach two course per spring and fall semester of 3 credits each and one 3 credit course during the summer semester within the Fellow’s scope of expertise for the Department of Psychophysiology. Each course is anticipated to have approximately 6-12 students. This amounts to five courses taught in the duration of the fellowship. The amount of teaching per semester may be modified if the Fellow is assigned other roles such as course development and research if more or fewer courses and enrolled students are available for the Fellow’s teaching.
  • The Fellow is responsible for keeping each course syllabus up to date, participating in the online discussion forums, and evaluating each assignment under the supervision of a senior faculty member.
  • The Fellow attends departmental and other faculty meetings.
  • The Fellow is assigned a senior member of the Department of Psychophysiology to mentor the Fellow through teaching and administrative duties. The Fellow is expected to meet with the mentor on a recurring basis.
  • The Fellow assists in the development of courses and course materials including locating appropriate supporting literature and organizing course materials.
  • The Fellow assists in preparation for and presentation of laboratory’s during the RC within the incumbent’s sphere of knowledge.
  • The Fellow is expected to conduct a research program in support of the department’s needs including development of research protocols and IRB applications.
  • The time commitment is approximately twenty hours per week with actual work hours negotiable with the chair of the hosting department and mentor.

Position Requirements:

  • Graduation with a doctoral degree in applied psychophysiology within the last two years from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Canvas system.
  • Experience in the on-line learning environment.
  • History of having taken the courses, or very similar courses, to those the Fellow is required to teach.
  • History of planning and conducting research studies in applied psychophysiology.
  • Knowledge of APA’s writing style requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Graduation with a doctoral degree in applied psychophysiology within the last two years from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent.
  • History of having taken courses similar to the courses the Fellow will teach.
