Saybrook University Adjunct Faculty Job Description

Under the direction of the Department Chair, the Adjunct Faculty member will engage students through discussion and assignments as outlined in the course syllabi, provide students with substantive feedback, and respond to student questions and concerns in a timely manner. The Adjunct Faculty member will also maintain communication with Department Administration, Faculty, and Students.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop master syllabus and Canvas course shell for a new course: a) Nutrition practice management/telehealth, b), Functional nutrition laboratory testing, c) Community nutrition, d) Lifecycle nutrition
  • Responsive and timely communication with Department Chair
  • Attend meetings (Faculty, Program, College, and University) and Faculty trainings, which could include Canvas, IRB, student record system, etc.
  • Deliver high quality innovative campus and/or on-line courses that foster critical thinking
  • Ensure rigorous academic standards and quality aligned with program goal
  • Design dynamic courses utilizing the latest developments and trends in classroom instruction and digital technology Actively participate in degree and departmental meetings when appropriate
  • Maintain effective professional and community involvement and/or affiliations as an ambassador for the University

Position Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
  • Demonstrated scholarship and/or accomplishments in the field.
  • Commitment to multicultural and humanistic principles.
  • Knowledge of higher education best practices.
  • Experience with ethnically diverse and/or other special populations.
  • Collegial attitude and willingness to work within a matrix organization.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Engage in ongoing technology education and adoption of new systems and processes.
