The Department of Athletic Training at Duquesne University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (non-tenure track).  

The Department of Athletic Training and the Health Sciences Program strive to provide students with a high quality educational experience, in order to facilitate their development as evidence-driven, patient-oriented healthcare professionals who are prepared for the ever-changing health care market.  Health Sciences students are provided with a comprehensive health and exercise science based curriculum, steeped in basic and applied science coursework, as well as a comprehensive liberal arts foundation.  The program’s agile curricular framework enables students to customize their educational experience in order to meet their professional and educational aspirations.  High quality research facilities enable Department faculty to pursue independent and collaborative research initiatives, as well as engage in interprofessional teaching and scholarly activities.  

Qualifications:  Interested candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Nutrition, or related field.  Candidates should also possess a minimum of 2-3 years of college or university teaching experience in the areas of Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology and/or Nutrition.   

Responsibilities: This position is a full-time, 12 month, non-tenure stream appointment with primary assignment to the faculty of the Health Sciences Program in the Department of Athletic Training.  Faculty responsibilities for this position include: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as appropriate, mentoring health sciences students within the program, pursuing scholarship and service commensurate with the non-tenure track appointment.  In addition to teaching responsibilities, this individual will be engaged with the development of and guiding students through capstone and experiential learning opportunities.  The faculty member will contribute to the missions of both the Department of Athletic Training and the John G. Rangos School of Health Sciences.  The faculty member will have the opportunity to contribute to the on-going development and implementation of a new Health Sciences Program.  Furthermore, applicants must be willing to contribute actively to the University mission and to respect the Spiritan Catholic identity of Duquesne University.
