Georgia State University’s Perimeter College is looking for someone who is passionate about data and an opportunity to support our mission of student success and innovative teaching.  With five campus locations across metro Atlanta and ranked 20th out of 838 two-year colleges nationally, Georgia State’s Perimeter College is a regional gateway to higher education. 

The college’s Business Analytics Officer leverages data from internal and external sources to provide decision support and insights to leaders in the organization. This is a hands-on role that requires a collaborative approach to analyze business requirements, optimize data and produce insights.  The College Business Intelligence Officer will report to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration and serve on the Finance and Administration leadership team. The role will direct data management and governance for the college and represent the college to institutional stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in data analysis, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, great communication skills, and be effective collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This position qualifies for remote work flexibility and, with locations around the metro, flexibility with office location.

Reporting and Analysis:

    Work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate business requirements and translate into business insights and dashboardsDevelop and maintain a suite of reports and dashboardsProvide data mining data-normalization and other ad-hoc analysis as requiredCreate, maintain, and enforce data definitions and integrity standards Develop automated and reusable routines for extracting information from various source applications
Data Strategy:

    Define a data strategy for the college integrating with institutional data initiatives.Provide proactive leadership while driving change and maintaining a positive business climate. Oversee management of college level data including strategy for structuring various disparate data sources for self-service reporting capabilitiesEngage internal and external partners to develop data structures for data storage, retrieval, and reporting.  Analyze data systems and document data elements, data flow, relationships, and dependenciesPartner across the GSU enterprise to represent the college on data-initiatives and to drive enhancement to meet strategic goals
Continuous Improvement and Adoption:

    Engage with key stakeholders and leadership evaluate and identify strategic prioritiesLead training efforts to drive report adoption, identify enhancements and clarify data definitionsTrain, develop, and evaluate staff, building strong relationships and high-performance teams through a process of open collaboration and engagement.


Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science Information Systems or related field and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Requirements:

    3-5 years demonstrated experience with developing ad hoc report, business analytics and data visualization using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Oracle Analytics Cloud or similar products.  Demonstrated strong track record of delivering data analysis to positively impact performanceExperience with PeopleSoft Financials and HR preferredStrong foundation in database structure, configuration, and maintenance.  Excellent SQL skills requiredExcellent mathematical and analytical skills.   Budget and financial analysis experience strongly preferred. Higher Education experience preferred but not required.Excellent communication skills; Comfortable presenting to all organizational levelsExcellent MS Suite Experience (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and project management skillsThis position qualifies for remote work and, with locations around the metro, flexibility with office location.

In addition to the numerous degree programs, Georgia State offers full- and part-time programs and day, evening and weekend classes.

Students have many choices in extracurricular activities including more than 22 fraternities and sororities; and some 250 chartered student groups, including 60 degree-related student groups, seven religious, 24 law-oriented and 22 multicultural/international groups; and 10 honor societies. There is also an active student government association which includes the student senate and the judicial board.

The Georgia State Panthers are members of the Colonial Athletic Association and compete in 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports, including basketball, baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and volleyball. The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
