Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, the Coordinator of Student Affairs provides support and coordination for the Office of Student Affairs. This position requires the use of independent judgment in planning, prioritizing, a diversified workload, and discretion in regular communications with students, faculty, physicians, and administrators at Hofstra University, the School of Medicine, and Northwell Health.

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including some early mornings and late evenings to support extended student services. This position is essential to ensuring that core operations within the Office of Student Affairs are maintained and effectively delivered for the betterment of our students and the School of Medicine.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Works closely and collaboratively with the faculty, staff, current students, and alumni to support and foster positive learning and extra-curricular experiences for medical students to ensure student needs are met.
• Addresses student issues and/or questions and escalates emergent concerns to appropriate department leaders alongside the Administrative Assistant.
• Coordinates all aspects of the first-year medical student onboarding experience, inclusive of database management, communications, document tracking and follow-up.
• Coordinates purchasing requests, submits contracts, purchase orders, and check requisitions, and completes other purchasing duties as assigned.
• Assists the Assistant Director with tracking departmental budget expenses.
• Assists with the coordination and organization of major events and activities.
• Assists with special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Collaborative and learning centered.
• Experience in higher education, and/or equivalent related experience in a customer service-related field.
• Strong organizational skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google suite products.
• Ability to exercise independent, sound, analytical/diagnostic judgements and have demonstrated experience in program implementation.
