JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Creative Content/Social Media Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Director of Creative Content, in collaboration with coaching staffs, with the overall ideation, creative direction and production of engaging digital content across multiple mediums, with a focus on the @UConnHuskies and several sports-specific social media platforms; lead and assist in developing and executing social media content strategies, guidelines and creative campaigns; serve as a content creator, with the ability to successfully contribute to the collaborative efforts of promoting Olympic sports, in conjunction with the Creative Team and multiple departments including Video Services, Marketing and Communications; provide real-time coverage at major UConn Athletics events; track platform-specific analytics and recommend content engagement and growth strategies; work under the leadership of the Director of Creative Content to help mentor student-athletes on the changing landscape of societal communications and the impact of social media on perceptions and reputations; other duties as assigned by the Director of Creative Content, the head coaches and the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Strategic Communications and Creative Content.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization such as graphic design, digital media, marketing, journalism, communications, or another applicable area of study
  • Two years of experience in social media strategy and execution
  • Strong attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and travel
  • Proficient experience in photography/videography and editing
  • Proficient experience with Adobe Creative Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two to four years of experience at an NCAA Division I institution
  • Working knowledge of video production
  • Advanced knowledge of social media insights and analytics
  • Proven success in social media engagement growth
  • Proficiency in graphic design
  • Experience with web design including HTML and CSS
  • One-year of experience in the area of on-campus recruiting at an NCAA Division I institution
