Position Description

The School of Nursing in the College of Health, Human Services, and Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Visiting Faculty for the School of Nursing with the appointment starting in Summer 2022.

School of Nursing

The School of Nursing is a CCNE-accredited school containing both undergraduate and graduate programs and is recognized as being learner focused, community based and student friendly.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN)

The online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum is for registered nurses who are adult learners whose time, lifestyles or work schedules make it difficult to complete a traditional course of study in residence on a campus. BSN courses are offered online in an asynchronous mode to accommodate the individual study requirements and balancing of academic study with professional and personal activities.

Master of Science in Nursing

The online Master of Science in Nursing program prepares leaders for advanced practice through the following role options: Nurse Educator; Nurse Administrator; Clinical Nurse Specialist; Family Nurse Practitioner.

The Position

The successful candidate will teach key courses in the Nursing Administration option at the School of Nursing and participate in the review of the curriculum for the role option. Responsibilities will also include student advisement, implementation of policies/procedures, identification of clinical placement sites, activities that support instruction, and program evaluation. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a collegial environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have five or more years’ experience in a senior nursing or healthcare administration role and experience in teaching at the graduate level in nursing or healthcare administration. He/she will have demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs and colleges and have demonstrated scholarship which has been interdisciplinary and collaborative in nature. The ideal candidate will have a record of accomplishments in scholarly activities and demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a master's degree in nursing and either an earned doctorate in nursing or in a related field or be actively pursuing at doctoral degree with completion within the next year.
  • Evidence of teaching competency in upper-division baccalaureate and/or in graduate nursing education, evidence of scholarship/research activities and a valid and active unencumbered California Registered Nurse License are required.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and to mentoring a diverse student population.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Eligible for rank of assistant professor.
    • National certification in a nursing or healthcare field and in-depth experience as the senior-level nurse executive in a healthcare organization.
    • Regional and/or national reputation as a leader in nursing. Experience in on-line teaching.
    • Experience in teaching graduate students in nursing or healthcare administration, leadership and management.

    Employment Requirement

    Background Check

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate’s, Doctor’s of Philosophy).
