Required Qualifications:

BA degree in Elementary Education, Theatre or Associate degree with 3-5 years of relevant work experience. Experience working with children grades 4th – 8th in the areas of theatre and performance. The candidate must be willing to take direction, be dependable, flexible, punctual and show good judgment. Must be able to oversee service aides and model appropriate teaching strategies for hands-on learning.

Must be able to demonstrate the Morton College core values of compassion, fairness, respect, responsibility, tolerance and truth.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a community college and/or non-credit environment. Strong customer service skills. English-Spanish bilingual. First Aid certification.

Job Summary:

Develop lesson plans and activities for children grades 4th – 8th. Modeling educational and disciplinary strategies for service aides who act as “counselors” to the children.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Design the educational session to complement the lesson plans developed jointly with the ActUp Theatre Campu Coordinator.
  • Direct the service aides assigned to your children’s age group, including the preparation of session materials and clean-up of materials and instructional areas, and returning materials to the proper storage space.
  • Ensure proper paperwork is completed by parents and that the sign-in/sign-out procedures are followed.
  • Ensure student safety at all times.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
