Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Dean and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs on developing and implementing teaching and learning modalities for new and existing degree programs, certificate programs, and courses.
  • Provide individualized support for faculty members to develop courses in Canvas and other learning platforms supported by the University of Denver.
  • Support faculty members who are teaching in current and future programs with online components, including the part-time JD program (roughly one-third online), the Graduate Tax Program (hyflex), and the Masters of Science in Legal Administration (online).
  • Keep abreast of new developments in pedagogy, instructional design, and research on how people learn, with a particular focus on legal education and the legal profession.
  • Develop programming, instructional opportunities, educational materials, tools, and templates directed to faculty members working with online learning platforms to enhance their delivery of learning content.
  • Collaborate with law school faculty and staff to foster teaching innovation, strong pedagogical practices, and inclusive excellence in technology-enhanced and online learning environments.
  • Coordinate with the University of Denvers Office of Teaching and Learning to provide comprehensive support for instructional design in the Sturm College of Law.
  • Coordinate with law school staff members, including law school faculty support and law school audio-visual and information technology staff, to ensure comprehensive support for law school faculty in Canvas and other University-supported learning platforms.
  • Advance inclusiveness and accessibility of course content, including compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, in close collaboration with unit- and University-level experts.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of instructional design strategies, including current techniques, tools, and procedures used in the design, development, and evaluation of online and other technology-enhanced courses and programs.
  • Experience with graphic design and AV elements appropriate for online instruction, such as Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
  • Ability to implement instructional technology tools for online content preparation, presentation, and production.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with faculty members to support their instructional technology needs.

  • Required Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year university or college in instructional design, instructional technology, learning sciences, or a closely related field
  • 1-3 years of experience applying instructional design principles and best practices to course development projects
  • Experience with online or hyflex teaching environments
  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, learning sciences, or a closely related field
    • Three years of work experience with the use of advanced instructional design principles, pedagogical strategies, and instructional technology to enhance learning
    • Experience in higher education

    Work Schedule
    Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Some evening and occasional weekend hours are required.

    Salary Range

    The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
