The Department of Psychology at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN) invites applications for two, one-year, non-tenure track Instructor positions beginning August 2022. We seek colleagues who are committed to exemplary teaching and collaborative research with undergraduate students and who will be able to support the building of inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student population.

Both positions require a Ph.D. in psychology at time of appointment, although qualified ABD individuals will be considered.

The successful applicants will be able to teach either or both of our integrated Research Methods and Statistics courses as well as Psychological Inquiry (our introductory psychology course). Experience teaching courses in an area of specialization (e.g., neuroscience, social psychology, industrial-organizational psychology) will further distinguish applicants. Please note that in-person teaching is required for these positions.

Standard teaching load is 4 classes per semester, but 1 class per year may be reassigned if the applicants involve our students in high-quality independent research.

Please submit a cover letter, CV, statements of teaching and research interests, evidence of teaching effectiveness, copies of transcripts, and the names of three (3) individuals who will be providing letters of reference.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received; complete applications should be received by April 18, 2022 to ensure consideration, but applications will be considered until the positions are filled. Hiring decisions will be made subject to final budgetary approval.

Butler University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to enhancing the diversity of the student body and our faculty and staff. In addition, hiring and other employment-related decisions are made on the basis of an individual’s qualifications, past experience, overall performance, and other employment-related criteria. It is the policy of the University to provide equal opportunities for employment and advancement for all individuals regardless of age, gender, race, religion, color, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other legally protected category.
