Position Summary:

The Financial Aid Processor is responsible for front counter reception duties, assisting students in the financial aid process in person, phone and email. Also verifies Student Aid Reports requests additional documents as needed and maintains College Work Study listing of open positions.

Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:

Reports directly to Assistant Director of Financial Aid.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Assists students in all aspects of the application process.2. Provides initial contact point for students including front counter, telephone and email assistance.3. Counsels and advises students as to the availability of federal, state and local financial assistance.4. Provides information regarding students’ financial aid history, default, and repayment status to other institutions and external agencies.5. Prepares and maintains student financial aid files in an established system.6. Maintains data entry using Datatel’s colleague integrated software system.7. Evaluates student eligibility for the Illinois MAP grant program and packages MAP grant award.8. Maintains College Work Study listing of open positions.9. Assign college work study students to positions, process associated new hire documents and process college work study payroll.10. Updates documents, pamphlets, and handbooks that are disseminated to students and the public.11. Attends necessary off-campus meetings and gives financial aid workshops.12. Provides information and assistance regarding the department’s programs and services.13. Performs a variety of support functions which are primarily routine in nature, but require knowledge of the general operating procedures of the department14. Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of the department, consistent with the role of this position.15. Daytime and evening hours are associated with this position.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Associates degree in Business or related field2. A working knowledge of financial aid programs.3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with businesses and students.4. Demonstrated ability to work in stressful situations, meets deadlines, and possesses organizational skills.5. Possess strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills necessary to interface with students, staff, and general public.6. Demonstrated ability of being detailed oriented and exhibiting a high degree of accuracy with respect to previous work related responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. 3 years professional experience working in student Financial Aid office.2. Previous work experience with Colleague.

Anticipated Work Hours and Days:

10:30 a.m. -7 p.m., Monday – Friday. Hours are subject to change.
