The Assistant Director, Outreach and Community Engagement (ADOCE) is a full-time professional staff member. The ADOCE is part of the team in the Institute for Inclusion and Equity (IIE) with responsibilities that support outreach, retention, and promotion of IIE services and resources to improve the overall climate around issues of difference for students and the campus community at the institution.
As a member of the IIE, the ADOCE acts as a significant support for the Director in the promotion and marketing of services and engaging continuing students from marginalized populations and groups.Responsibilities
- Serve as the IIE liaison for transfer students at Ursinus College.
- Outreach and support to provide resources for BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and other underrepresented student populations at Ursinus.
- Serve as case manager and mentor for students with challenges as it relates to belonging and equity at Ursinus.
- Partners with Communications for promotion and marketing of diversity recruitment efforts.
- Create and maintain a marketing strategy for IIE events and social media.
- Assist the Director of the IIE with the specific implementation of the Crigler Program.
- Collaborate with Residential Life, Admissions, Athletics, Student Activities, and other key offices to create inclusive student engagement through educational, social, and leadership-based programming as necessary.
- Enhance educational initiatives and training during New Student Orientation, Ursinus Student Government Association (USGA) Training and Resident Assistant training, etc.
- Collaborate with campus partners to ensure a strong campus-wide network of support for the recruitment and retention of diverse students.
- Serve as additional resource for key partnerships such as America Reads, this is including but not limited to organizations that provide access to diverse populations in the college process
- Master’s Degree and/or at least 2+ years of progressive higher education, or related experience
- High level of understanding of, and experience with, racial identity, socio-economic identity, religious identity, gender identity, sexual identity, gender expression, disability, transfer students and other underrepresented student populations
- A high proficiency in multi-tasking as well and coordination
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Confidentiality, care, and maturity in dealing with complex issues
- A collaborative and transparent approach to problem-solving and teamwork
