We are seeking a professional research assistant to contribute to our vibrant research program by developing an independent program of research and collaborating on existing projects. Nature of Work
This position is responsible for supporting coordination and execution of research and evaluation projects. Competitive candidates will be outgoing, detail-oriented, innately curious, highly motivated to excel in a dynamic team environment.

Professional Field
This position is in the field of bioethics.

Examples of Work Performed

The primary responsibility of the position will be support research and evaluation project coordination such as: participant recruitment & retention, regulatory compliance, data collection & management, communications management, resource procurement and cost & schedule monitoring, and grant application support.  This position will be asked to support qualitative and/or quantitative methodologic specialties. 

Project Support:

    Support and/or coordinate simple to moderately complex projects, and/or discrete scopes of work as part of a larger project;Throughout the project lifecycle: Initiation, planning, execution, control & monitoring, closeout.Perform integrated project management of relevant project domains: scope, communications, time, cost, quality, resources, risk, procurement, & stakeholders.Establish project processes so as to execute project deliverables per defined requirements.Manage project changes.
Conduct participant recruitment efforts:Engage potential participants via phone, internet or in person, confirming participant eligibility, educate potential participants and other stakeholders on research opportunities.Maintain contact tracking records, draft recruitment materials.Manage applicable regulatory requirements:
    Internal Review Board (IRB)- maintain CITI certification, manage IRB approval processes and documentation, draft consent documents, maintain contact tracking recordsPrivacy – ensure project processes & data management secure patient privacy (ie. HIPAA)Others as applicable
Maintain data management system according to all applicable data security, privacy and regulatory standards:Coordinate primary data collection for study records and project metadataDesign simple to moderately complex database(s) for data collection and/or storageCoordinate acquisition of secondary data including relevant use agreementsMaintain study records, project performance metrics, and other study documentationEnsure secure transfer and storage of all data items throughout project lifecycleCoordinate & execute project communications:With the project team: roles and assignments, coordinate meetings, work plans, progress reports, etc.With project stakeholders: reporting, advertising, press releases, web presence & social media, etc.Maintain budget & scheduleCoordinate project resourcesConduct, track and manage procurementCommunicate risk to delays and budget overages to PICommunicate project changes and progress to grant managersQualitative methods support
    Conduct structured, semi-structured interviewsSupport focus groupSupport qualitative coding and analysis
Supervision Received
The Professional Research Associate reports to Dr. Mathew DeCamp who is an Associate Professor in the Center for Bioethics and Humanities.

Supervision Exercised
The Professional Research Associate will not supervise other employees.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    To be successful in this position, candidates will need the following:

      Highly organized and attentive to detail with excellent written and oral communication skills.Comfortable working with various stakeholders, including patients and caregivers, clinicians, academics, and analysts.Demonstrated commitment to promoting diverse, equitable & inclusive culture.Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.Ability to manage multiple assignments.Ability to problem-solve unexpected and novel technical and logistical challenges associated with complex projects.Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively as an integral member of various teams.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word, and Outlook)
    Salary Offered or Salary Range
    The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $35,600 - $50,000.

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications 
    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

      Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    Preferred Qualifications

      Experience coordinating in multi-disciplinary research setting and working knowledge of good research practices.Familiarity with Project Management principles, their application to the academic/research environment and/or willingness to pursue training.Familiarity with project management applications (Smartsheet, Airtable, and MS Teams)Experience conducting qualitative data collection and basic analysis and/or willingness to pursue training.
