SUMMARY:

The Associate Director of Marketing and Brand Integration creates, manages, and integrates strategic marketing and advertising concepts, campaigns, and materials that strengthen and advance the awareness and reputation of the University of Richmond across a range of target audiences and industry influencers. The position also manages partnerships with key campus constituents to identify and execute strategically chosen and highly collaborative projects that deeply integrate the University's brand identity and drive increased institutional reputation and engagement with the University's multiple audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing/Advertising Strategy and Execution

  • Oversee the execution of communication strategies that support University priorities, drive reputation, and enhance affinity among key constituents
  • Lead the definition and execution of the University's brand- and awareness-building advertising campaigns, with aspects including overall strategy, media placement mix, concept creation, editorial execution, and performance evaluation
  • Define, and ensure adherence to, strategic-messaging and brand-content platforms, as well as brand-driven editorial standards
  • Create, manage, and integrate brand-consistent content across a variety of digital properties managed by University Communications on behalf of the institution
  • Serve as front-line contact/media buyer with publications and vendor partners to manage both digital and print advertising and identify and assess advertising opportunities
  • Collaborate with University Communications colleagues to execute a variety of branded creative assets for print and digital placement
  • Manage the advertising budget in partnership with the assistant to the vice president to ensure efficient stewardship of resources

Brand Integration

  • As the division's lead project liaison to campus partners, identify and ensure the execution of collaborative project opportunities that deeply integrate the University's brand across the institution and increase institutional reputation and engagement, while also serving the strategic needs of those campus units
  • Lead the creation and execution of creative briefs, communications plans, and proposals to inform collaborative branding efforts, as well as content strategy and direction
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with campus partners to understand their goals and engage them in strategically chosen collaborative work

Data Analysis and Response

  • Define key performance indicators for measuring the effectiveness of the University's reputation- and awareness-building work and ROI to the institution for its marketing spend
  • Lead the creation, management, and monitoring of UTM campaign codes for University, school, and departmental advertising campaigns
  • Capture, analyze, and report on data around key institutional metrics and identified conversion goals
  • Leverage metrics reports, constituent feedback, market research, industry data, and other best practices to inform and continually improve the University's reputation- and awareness-building efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, the principles of print and digital marketing, branding, and communications
  • Strong knowledge of advertising principles and best practices, including media buying, vendor management, creative asset management, and campaign performance assessment
  • Exceptional editing, grammar, writing, and proofreading skills
  • Advanced knowledge of creative development and marketing processes
  • Proven experience developing, deploying, and measuring targeted ad campaigns
  • Strong ability to present ideas to team and campus partners, make presentations, garner consensus, obtain quality feedback, build relationships, and manage the interests of multiple stakeholders
  • Proven success serving in the project-management role for the implementation of sophisticated communications plans
  • Proven experience capturing and using data analytics and market research to inform and evolve communication strategies
  • Strong competency in current software tools and applications (including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite, web/digital content platforms, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and receive constructive criticism in a productive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, coupled with the ability to set and recommend priorities

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, public relations, English, and/or related field is required
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a professional creative team environment, including direct experience in marketing and brand strategy, copy direction, content development, and integrated communications

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 38.75 hrs./week

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 7 (Hiring Range $51,181.00 to $67,805.00 annually)
