Job Summary:Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health at Eastern Washington University invite applications for an Operations Manager position to begin June 2022.
This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. This individual will be the primary assistant to the Chair and contact for the program. This position is responsible for budget and resources management. This individual is also the program representative and resource for students in the department programs and for external constituents, including Washington State University. (EWU works in cooperation with WSU with regard to the department’s programs.) This individual exercises independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality, utilizes delegated authority to make and implement plans, decisions, and commitments in areas related to management policies and department business operations. This individual has a comprehensive range of responsibilities including planning, budget development, personnel, payroll, purchasing, special project support, incoming student advising and admissions support, and other administrative functions. Core competencies for this position include professionalism, leadership, communication skills, organization and analytical skills, and professional knowledge about the program and the field of speech-language pathology.
The College of Health Science and Public Health and the Communication Sciences and Disorders department are located in downtown Spokane, Washington. The department is housed on the WSU/EWU Health Sciences Campus in the Spokane University District. Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum six (6) years senior level administrative work experience; experience must demonstrate abilities in all of the following areas:
- Work is beyond entry level tasks, and which is characterized by complexity, overlapping deadlines, and independent responsibility for outcomes
- Communicate clearly and accurately, verbally and in writing, with a broad range of individuals at different levels of a large, complex organization;

- Demonstrated experience involving the performance of programmatic and administrative assignments
- Substantial knowledge of regulations, rules, policies and procedures, processes, materials and/or equipment related to the administration of an academic department
- Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff and the public
- Bachelor’s degree in management, business or health sciences
- Knowledge of software programs commonly used in academic settings such as CSDCAS, CALIPSO, Canvas, EagleNet, Banner, and WebAdMIT.
- Knowledge of speech-language pathology practices in education, clinical and healthcare settings.
- Work experience demonstrating the following:
- Coordinating academic program policies and procedures for all students, staff and faculty in a communication sciences and disorders/health sciences department including undergraduate, post-bac and graduate programs
- Coordinating and managing new student admissions and pre-advising for undergraduate, post bac and graduate programs using online admission systems (e.g., WebAdMIT).

- Develop and implement office procedures, policies, and systems
- Assist with annual program assessment reporting as directed by the Department Chair
- Independently manage complex projects (e.g., operationalize a new program and issues, determine steps to completion, and successfully implement them)
- Assist Department Chair and search committees with the recruitment process
- Interview, select, supervise and train office staff in collaboration with the Department Chair. Evaluate staff and initiate corrective action when necessary
