Assistant Professor Clinician Educator - Clinical Statistical Geneticist/Epidemiologist - Division of Genomic Diagnostics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Clinical Statistical Genetics and Genetic Epidemiology in association with genomic diagnostics and immunogenetics. We seek a candidate whose research interests focus on methods for improving interpretation of genomic data for diagnostics and research. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching of fellows, residents, medical, and graduate students.

Clinical responsibilities may include the development and implementation of tools for diagnostic and translational medicine, establishing or improving standards and methods for the interpretation of genomic data, assessing risk factors and appropriate quantitative interpretation of data in clinical lab settings. We seek someone who can help facilitate expanding analysis and diagnostic interpretation to new diseases, genomic regions, and consult on the infrastructure for the transmission, storage, harmonization, and usage of genomic data.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include various aspects of statistical genetics, population genetics, and translational medicine. The establishment of collaborative work in genomic diagnostics and immunogenetics is highly desirable. Experience with Next Generation Sequencing and related statistical genetics tools and packages is required.

Faculty in the Clinician-Educator track are expected to develop a national reputation in an area of academic focus, with this work being either investigator-initiated or collaborative and associated with appropriate publications and some degree of funding. The Perelman School of Medicine and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are known for emphasis on translational research and the candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong record/potential in epidemiologic, translational, or clinical research.
