Job Description:


York Country Day School seeks an experienced and innovative full-time physical education teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching young children, knowledgeable of childhood cognitive developmental needs and appropriate practices, well-versed in child-centered learning, and capable of creating an environment that fosters a love of learning. The individual selected will be expected to motivate, assess, engage and develop student learning while managing the routine daily activities both in the gym and classroom settings.



Requirements:


Strong candidates possess:


  • Bachelor's degree with a major in physical education or equivalent; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred in preschool to grade 6
  • Ability to teach physical education skills such as gross motor development, spatial awareness, locomotor movements, and athletic movements (throwing, catching, kicking, striking an object, chasing, and fleeing)
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and appreciation of each child as an individual with diverse needs
  • Experience with distance learning, Google Classroom, and Seesaw
  • Experience integrating technology and applying 21st-century learning within the classroom
  • Ability to meet varied demands with integrity, enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, and humor
  • Willingness to coach and provide rich extracurricular activities
