Description:
Full-time faculty position in the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity, with an academic appointment for a department to be determined, School of Community Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Research Responsibilities
- As a faculty member of the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity, the individual filling this position will be expected to actively pursue local, state and federal sources of support to derive the funds necessary to advance their research goals and the research goals of ORDSA and their academic department.
- The faculty member will be expected to regularly and promptly disseminate the results of their research in well-respected journals within their field of expertise.
- The faculty member will be expected to actively seek appointment to the graduate college and to participate in research training of medical students, physician assistant students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
- The faculty member will be expected to manage their research according to all applicable ethical and safety guidelines as established by the university.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Participate and demonstrate proficiency in SCM and departmental teaching efforts for medical, physician assistant, graduate, and other students.
- Develop or refine course offerings in their field of expertise.
Service Responsibilities
- The individual will be expected to provide mentorship on research projects to students and trainees as well as clinical faculty through the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity.
- The appointee will be expected to actively participate in departmental, Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity, University, and Health Sciences Center committee work as required.
- The individual will be expected to represent their academic department and the Office for Research Development and Scholarly Activity by making their expertise available to the general community and its educational effort as required by the department.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. with demonstrable experience and success in research in the field of lifestyle medicine. Success will be evidenced by publications in recognized journals commensurate in number with years of postdoctoral experience, and/or success in securing extramural support for research.
Preferences
- Previous experience working in a medical school.
- Extensive experience with quantitative statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, SAS, etc.
- Extensive experience with qualitative data analysis software programs such as MAXQDA, NVivo, ATLAS.ti, etc.
- Successful past scholarship in the field of exercise and wellness as it relates to medicine.
