Job Responsibilities

The English, Speech, and Journalism Department invites applications for one English Instructor position starting Fall 2022 for the 2022-2023 academic year. The primary responsibilities include administering courses, delivering instruction, designing and developing curriculum, evaluating student assignments in accordance with departmental standards, advising students, and service to the college. Courses are taught in a traditional classroom setting, hybrid, and online. Classes are conducted on all TTC campuses and at local high schools; therefore, travel is required.

The successful candidate should be available to teach in the classroom, online, day and/or evening courses, and at all locations, as assigned. Excellence in teaching as demonstrated through effective instructional strategies and techniques in the classroom is required.

Normal teaching loads are 5-6 courses per semester in fall and spring and summer teaching assignments may be available. This position reports directly to the department head. Must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in information technology.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a master's degree in English or a master's degree with 18 semester credit hours in English at the graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching college-level composition, literature, and technical writing courses at a two-year, open-access institution is highly preferred. The ability to work effectively in a diverse community is essential. Educational development experience (working with faculty and/or students on teaching & learning assessment) is desired.
