As the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) embarks on a multi-year human capital management (HCM) information technology project, the Office of Human Resources is looking for a talented Human Resource Services Ceneter (HRSC) Specialist to join the team.  The HR Service Center is looking to recruit a detail-oriented individual with experience in processing employment information in the PeopleSoft system. The position requires continued training and learning opportunities while multi-tasking and processing large amounts of data entry.  The HRSC Specialist position will play a key role in new hire Onboarding and Intake including processing electronic I-9 verifications for work authorization. Benefits Information:

Primary Duties:
  • Administers the guidance and training of the human resource team and campus customers with regards to identifying and providing efficient resolution to campus wide employee transaction inquiries and processing.
  • Ensures transactions are processed accurately and timely. Ensures transaction queues are fully completed each day, and reports information. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves inconsistencies in data entry or output.
  • Ensures the integrity and accuracy of data input and output in the human resource information system (HRIS) by identifying and conducting audits of employee transaction submissions. Works with University customers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve irregularities, correct discrepancies, and miscalculations, and ensures compliance with policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Develops and delivers training to campus users on all aspects of the “how to” mechanism needed to properly record and process all employee actions. Assists management in identifying areas for training.
  • Generates and requests update to queries and reports to ensure data extraction meets the needs of the service center. Develops list of common data entry errors and runs periodic reports to ensure data is accurate.
  • Maintains and nurtures effective communication and partnerships within Human Resources and acts as resource to HRS staff in determining appropriate resolution of transactional issues.
  • Works with Financial Services to ensure the effective completion of bi-weekly payroll and related processes and reports, Prepares and analyzes reports to provide efficient and effective services to University customers.
  • Recommends and implements processes to identify, track, escalate, and resolve customer, payroll, and system processing problems.
  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with customer base, serve as an interface between University/Payroll customers and HRSC staff to ensure effective definition of continuous improvement and delivery of HRSC processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in human resources, payroll processing, call center, service center, or other help desk/data entry centralized service area.

  • Applies intermediate level knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills. Decision making occurs within general guidelines and requires significant interpretation. Supervisor defines work guided by goals and objectives. Supervisor assists with unusual situations. Solutions require considerable analysis and evaluation of various alternatives. Independently anticipates needs and requirements to resolve non-routine matters.
