The School of Nursing at Western Carolina University (WCU) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure track faculty position in the School of Nursing. Anticipated begin work date is August 1, 2022. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a candidate has been selected for hire.
The School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The School of Nursing is housed on two campuses, the main campus in Cullowhee and Asheville, NC. The Cullowhee campus supports the traditional BSN program while the Asheville location houses the Accelerated BSN and graduate nursing programs.Candidates interested in an academic career with a focus on teaching, service, and scholarly pursuit are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for pre-licensure nursing, an interest in scholarship and education and the flexibility to teach in several areas of the curriculum, though the greatest current teaching need is in the traditional ABSN program at WCU’s Biltmore Park instructional site in Asheville, NC.
Duties and Responsibilities:· Support the vision and mission of the BSN Programs, along with the School, College, and University.· Develop and deliver courses within the BSN Programs.· Mentor and advise students in collaboration with the Advising Center with regard to academic progress and professional development.· Provide service to the university, profession, and community.· Maintain currency in the academic discipline through continuing education, research, and/or participation in activities within the profession, including involvement within professional organizations at the state, district and national levels.· Work cooperatively and collegially with all faculty and staff in the BSN Programs, School of Nursing, and across the institution.· Carry out other assignments and duties as assigned by the ABSN Program Director, Director of the School of Nursing, and Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Successful candidates will possess outstanding communication skills, evidence of scholarly activity, teach and develop online and traditional courses, advise students, participate on committees and in official activities of the School, College and University. Other responsibilities include supervising student clinical experiences, and teaching in the skills and simulation laboratory. Salary and rank are commensurate with academic qualifications and experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to public engagement through their teaching, service, and scholarship.Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited institution
- At least five (5) years of working experience as a registered nurse
- Demonstrated teaching experience in academic settings
- A scholarly activity and/or research agenda, as defined by the Boyer model
- Preference for applicants that have taught one to three years in a School of Nursing with teaching experience in nursing foundations and medical-surgical nursing.
- Experience with CCNE and NC Board of Nursing accreditation
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and success
- Demonstrated success with student mentoring
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of service to the profession and/or community
